When I need a chicken dinner on the fly, oven-roasted chicken wings is what I would cook the most.
Oven-Roasted Char Siew Chicken Wings
You can replace the mid-joint wings with either the drumsticks or the thighs. For best results, marinate the chicken for at least 2 hours
- 16-18 mid-joint wings
- 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp sesame oil
DirectionsAdjust the oven racks to the middle and lowest positions and heat the oven to 200°C. Place a rimmed baking sheet on the lower oven rack.
Combine hoisin saucce, soy sauce, black pepper and sesame oil. Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and lightly rub the chicken wings on all sides with the seasonings.
Place the chicken wings, skin side down, on the preheated baking sheet. Return the sheet to the lower rack. Roast the chicken thighs until the skin begins to brown for 20-25 minutes, rotating the sheet once halfway through cooking. Remove the chicken from the oven and pour the rendered chicken fat from the baking sheet into another bowl.
Flip the chicken, skin side up, and return them to theh oven. Broil the chicken on the upper rack until the skin is crisp and well browned and the meat registers for about 3-5 minutes.
Let the chicken wings rest for about 5 minutes in the oven before transfering them to a serving dish. Serves 4.
