Mashed Potatoes

  • Servings: 4
  • Difficulty: easy
  • Print

Notes: You can add bacon bits or chopped onion.

  • 1 large russet potato, peel and wash
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp milk

  1. Cut the potato into quarter and place in a small pot. Cover with cold water and bring the water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of salt and reduce the heat to a simmer and boil for about 10-12 minutes.
  2. In a small saucepan, warm the milk, do not boil. Melt the butter in another saucepan (I place the butter in a aluminium bowl over hot water).
  3. Drain the potato and using a potato masher, mash the potato.
  4. Add melted butter into the potatoes. Gradually pour in the milk and mix well using a spoon, stop when the potato mixture is sufficiently moist and fluffy.
